Lot 2 - Recovery of Heavy Vehicles
It is anticipated that a number of Contractors shall be appointed to, and assigned to, specific areas for the purpose of operating a Vehicle Recovery Scheme. For the avoidance of doubt the allocation of recovery operators to specified areas shall be at the sole discretion of the Authority, based on the geography and the location of the Tenderers premises and or accessibility to arterial routes.

The Contractor will be required to recover, remove, store and dispose of light and heavy vehicles, motorcycles and abandoned vehicles (excluding those vehicles under local council responsibility). Including but not limited to broken down, stolen and collision damaged light and heavy class vehicles and motorcycles, which are contravening traffic regulations and causing obstructions on the highways and motorways; burnt out vehicles, vehicles used in crime, vehicles recovered under the Police Reform Act 2002 and the removal of unlicensed and untaxed vehicles within the total area of the Staffordshire boundary except where expressly stated. The Contractor will also be requested to remove vehicles form such other locations as may be required e.g. Authority premises. In addition to the recovery, removal of vehicles under statutory powers it is anticipated that the Contractor will be required on request to recover vehicles belonging to the Authority and vehicles belonging to the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
