Instead of: The Space Technology Applications from Research (STAR) project at the University of Leicester requires a five axis vertical machining centre, suitable for the manufacture of precision components made from various grades of stainless steels/steels, aluminium alloys, brass, copper molybdenum and other materials, using high speeds and feeds. The machine is to support a wide range of research groups and projects to produce components of high accuracy for space flight and other areas of engineering based research.

The contract is part funded by a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) grant award.

Read: Following a review of the project finances, it has been decided not to proceed with the procurement at this time. It is with regret that the procurement is therefore cancelled with immediate effect.
