Tintern Wireworks Bridge - Strengthening and Refurbishment

This advert is intended to notify potential suppliers of the tender for Tintern Wireworks Bridge Strengthening and Refurbishment.

The site is located along A466 near Tintern Abbey crossing River Wye. The objective of the works is to Strengthen and refurbish the bridge. This contract is looking for a Principal Contractor to deliver the construction phase of this project.

Construction Phase key Deliverables are as follows:

• Install ties using pattress plate/rod system to the west wingwalls and abutment
• Install full encapsulation system around the bridge
• Grit blasting and re-painting
• Repointing of the masonry walls
• Install new steel beams and associated works (including preparation of the piers/abutments and welding operations)

A summary of the outline programme for the scheme is shown below:

Tender period: Friday 8th April 2022 to Tuesday 24th May 2022

Award: 10th June 2022

Anticipated Works Start Date: 24th June 2022 site access

Completion: 3rd March 2023

Indicative Value: Approx. £1.7M

The proposed procurement route will be a single stage (Open Procedure) using the NEC4 ECC form of Contract,

Option A Priced Contract with Activity Schedule. Full details will be available in the tender pack that we advertised on Friday 8th April 2022.

An introduction to this scheme will be provided at a supplier engagement event that will be held as a Microsoft Teams telecon on; Thursday 14th April 2022: 10:00hrs to 11:30hrs
