description

A further tranche of work is proposed to develop the existing RSPB/CCI analysis to address one or more additional landscape types (which should include an upland example) and to explore benefits for selected additional environmental benefits.

A proposal for research was invited which refines the existing model to:

-Build species prioritisation into the analysis (probably based on distribution/population size rather than conservation priority);
-Take account of the importance of the character area for key habitats i.e. in a regional/national context;
-Develop an equivalent case study in an upland area ;
oExplores use of data on other taxa in current case studies (eg butterflies on SP) or other ecosystem services/natural capital;
oDescribes the landscape/habitat composition of the intermediate 'compartment', representing a High Nature Value Farming paradigm, tailoring it to individual or different types of NCA.
