description

Nottingham City Council is seeking tenders from sufficiently experienced and qualified contractors for the provision of a Smoking Cessation Service. Rates of smoking are higher amongst certain population groups than the general population. In this specification these groups are referred to as priority groups. The priority groups are identified as smokers who are:

Adults living in areas of the city with highest smoking prevalence
Pregnant women
Adults with mental health problems (including drug and alcohol misuse problems)
Adults admitted to hospital or with long term conditions
Adults from lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) groups
Adults from Eastern and Central European countries

(for definitions see section 3.4 Population covered, eligibility and exclusion criteria, target groups)

The key service outcomes for this service is to support people who smoke from the groups defined in this service specification to stop smoking and therefore reduce their risk of smoking related harm and diseases.

By supporting people to stop smoking the service will contribute to reducing smoking in the city. The Nottingham City Tobacco Control Strategy 2015-2020 set out the strategic approach to reducing smoking in the city. This strategy provides a strategic framework for working towards the targets within these plans.
