description

Department for International Trade requires a solution for the Construction of the Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020. The Pavilion will consist of a self-build country Pavilion with an accompanying business and cultural programme. The Pavilion is required to be built in accordance with the design theme of 'Innovating for a Shared Future' as interpreted by the winning design while adhering to the Expo 2020 Dubai guidelines.

The structure for the Pavilion will need to be built to enhance the architectural vision, allow for innovation and ensure it is sustainable through utilisation of well tested and approved construction methodology and materials. The scope of the Construction includes the supply and construction of the shell & core, fit-out including - inter alia - all set work, internal walls, ceilings, floors, plinths, display unit, finishes, graphics, electricals, lighting, interfacing works and exhibition, maintenance, takedown and possible legacy. Legacy works may include but not limited to, the careful dismantle and packaging of the entire Pavilion, parts of the Pavilion and/or main exhibit for transportation and re-erection to a new site either within or outside of the UAE.

The Pavilion will need to have the capacity to cope with a high level of visitors and free flow of visitors to enhance visitor experience.

The Pavilion will need to be ready by October 2020 to welcome visitors. To achieve this, the construction stage of this requirement will follow a very tight programme timeline. The critical path on the construction is to ensure the completion of the shell and core by 20th October 2019, followed by the completion of fit-out by 20th July 2020 and the final exhibition installation to be completed by 20th September 2020.

The Contractor will be required to work collaboratively with the Design Contractor of the Pavilion to finalise technical design (RIBA Stage 4) and buildability of the Pavilion.

The Contract will be awarded on the basis of MEAT which will include an assessment of quality/technical and price at Stage 2 of the competitive dialogue process.
