description

This project specification seeks foresight research to provide context to help inform future policy on agri-food. This will help us understand the innovation landscape, potential future technologies, and the packages of R&D, social research and policy measures which could prepare us for future scenarios and unlock opportunities to turn transformational ideas into a reality.

Innovation will provide a key mechanism to drive policy ambitions for a productive, sustainable and resilient agri-food sector, producing healthy and affordable food, which contributes significantly to environmental goals including achieving climate change targets.

The study should include an examination of: potential pathways to 2050 and beyond, systemic risks, trade-offs and synergies, barriers, uncertainties and opportunities and where possible, innovation readiness.

The outcomes will contribute to informing how Government, industry and wider society can meet the ambitions of the National Food Strategy and inform future R&D and innovation investment decisions.
