description

The pilot seeks to test whether providing early legal advice on debt, housing and welfare benefits could promote the early resolution of housing problems, preventing escalation into more serious issues such as eviction, possession or homelessness. Consequently, this should reduce the cost of significant areas of spend across the wider government.

To test the implementation, impacts and economic case for wider adoption, the pilot will run across two sites and be subject to a robustly conducted evaluation across both sites. This will provide us with a thorough, detailed business case to make further evidence-based decisions on this policy area, including the potential benefits of investments to have better outcomes in a number of different government policies.
