ESPO Framework Reference 3S_18 Strategic HR Services
Background to the task
Our strategy states one of our key aims is to transform companies' performance. The engagement function in our Company Performance Monitoring and Engagement Team plays a key role in this by bringing internal and external insight together to create an effective engagement approach.
A key task in this work is bringing information that Ofwat and external stakeholders hold into one place and to turn it into insight.
This role will be to capture that information and produce an insights report for each of the 17 companies that we regulate (this work is currently being piloted for two companies).
The Role
Given this affects what we will recommend to senior members of Ofwat on how we should engage with a particular company we need to ensure that we have the right information in one place and that it is accurate picture of the company.
The role requires strong organisational skills as there may be a significant amount of information available for some companies. It also requires a good writing skills to enable to convey the information in a succinct way.
The nature of the work means that the person in this role may need to work with Ofwat colleagues to understand the information and data that we hold. Knowledge of economic regulation and/or how regulated utilities operate, with particular focus on the water sector would be very helpful, but is not essential.
Tasks will likely include:
Working with the engagement team members to quickly catch up on our insights pilot work and then take this forward to produce reports for the other water companies. This will involve the following tasks:
ï· Communicating with Ofwat teams to capture information they hold.
ï· Review information we have already captured.
ï· Searching external websites for intelligence on companies and their behaviour, including social media reaction.
ï· Making sure the information is stored in an organised way
ï· Writing up the insights report and addressing comments by the team members including the Principal leading the work and the team Director
