description
Recovery, storage and disposal of vehicles seized in waste crime operations.
Additional information: The Environment Agency is an executive non-departmental public body responsible to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Our principal aims are to protect and improve the environment and to promote sustainable development.
The Environment Agency has the power to seize vehicles under the Control of Waste (Dealing with Seized Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015. This Regulation allows an authorised officer to seize a vehicle and its contents where we have reasonable grounds to believe that a waste offence has been committed. As a result, we require external support to help recover, storage and dispose of vehicles seized in waste crime operations.
We are looking for a single contractor to provide a managed service whereby we will have a single point of contact in respect of seized vehicles in accordance with current regulations. The contractor will be responsible for providing the following and other related services:
- 24/7 recovery call out for a range of different vehicles – however, most likely commercial vehicles such as vans, trucks etc.
- National coverage (England only)
- Secure storage of recovered vehicles at locations across the UK, on a short and long term basis
- Sufficient storage for recovered vehicles
- Eventual disposal of vehicles, where appropriate (by centralised disposal agent)
We plan to award the contract in June 2016 for an initial period of one year, with the option to extend for two further one year periods. It is anticipated that we will seize approximately 50 vehicles each year.
If your organisation is interested in this requirement, please email brooke.engel@environment-agency.gov.uk by 4pm on Friday, 11 March 2016 and:
- Quote “A6LL-QWL0US Recovery, Storage and Disposal of Waste Crime Vehicles” in the subject line
- Provide your organisation’s name, a contact name, phone number and email address
- Confirm whether we can speak to the contact for more information about your organisation and delivery approach.
