Kirkbridge Footbridge Refurbishment

Kirkbridge Footbridge is a multi-span bridge in South Elmsall carrying a footpath over the main east coast line between Minsthorpe Vale and Beaumont Avenue. The bridge is of steel construction with reinforced concrete foundations. The protective paint system has degraded, as has the surfacing to the steel deck. The entire structure is to be painted, with cladding panels and mesh being replaced with new items. The deck surfacing is to be removed and replaced with a combined waterproofing surfacing system. The bridge crosses the railway in a predominantly residential area. Much of the work is to be carried out under possession of the railway. Possessions have been arranged by the employer. The works comprise: - a) Site clearance. b) Traffic management measures. c) Removal of cages, cladding panels and the south ramp. d) Preparation of steelwork for painting e) Painting of steelwork f) Removal of existing surfacing system. g) Installation of refurbished cages. h) Installation of new cladding panels i) Installation of refurbished south ramps. j) Application of new surfacing system. k) Pointing works to brick abutments. l) Application of anti graffiti coating system.
