Replacement Theatrical and House Lighting, Sound and Projection Equipment

Lighting and AV

Dorchester Town Council wishes to install/ upgrade the systems for theatrical, house lighting, sound and projection in the Corn Exchange.

Lighting

To replace the existing theatrical and house lighting system with new fit for purpose.

The work will cover:

Removal of existing installations.

Replacement (and in one case, repositioning) of winches, wire rope systems and associated electrical controls.

Replacement of IWBs with suitable equipment capable of carrying both halogen and LED lights, along with any associated data cabling.

Replacement of the dimmer racks with a dual-universe, hardwired system providing a minimum of 60 channels.

Replace the existing lighting console with one suited to the new installations and the range of performances to take place.

All associated data cabling and electrical installations to allow control from technical area and specified locations in the venue.

Modifications to the technical area as required.

Provide a suitable house lighting system for use before, during and after performances (leaving in place the current high-level LED installations)

Sound

To replace the existing audio system with new.

The work will cover:

Removal of existing installations as required.

Provision and installation of loudspeakers (suitable for PA/spoken word, recorded backing tracks for performance, small and medium scale live music and cinema projection (5.1 system)) with associated amplification, hardware and rigging.

Provision of a digital mixing console suited to the new installations and the range of performances taking place in the venue.

Installation of a show relay to the dressing rooms.

Installation of all system cabling to allow control from technical area and specified locations in the venue.

Projection/AV

To replace the existing projection/AV system with new.

The work will cover:

Removal of existing installations as required.

Provision and installation of an electronically operated, tensioned front projection screen (min. 5.5m wide)

Provision and installation of a suitable mid-range projector with associated lenses to deliver high quality results on the newly installed screen.

All cabling, signal distribution/processing and control systems associated with the above to allow control from technical area.

Facilities panels

Provision and installation of facilities panels (including Speakon, CAT6, DMX, comms and audio tie lines) in the stage area with all associated cabling to the technical area.

Curtains

Adaptation of (and where necessary, replacement of) the curtain tracks and curtains to provide clearance from, and suitable framing of, the new projections screen.

Provision and installation new curtains to provide end to end coverage of walls in stage area.
