description

The School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds is seeking tenders for a gas chromatography to underpin experiments within its teaching laboratories. These laboratories provide the primary source of laboratory instruction for students in years 1-3 at University. Equipment is communal and shared and in use almost continuously during term time. As part of this process the general laboratory equipment detailed below is required. Suppliers should specifically note that whole life cost will be one of the factors used in deciding upon the final model. An undergraduate teaching laboratory is an unforgiving environment and 18 year old students are very adept at finding weakness in design. Designs must therefore be robust to deal with this environment and operating systems able to support use by undergraduate students with minimal training required.

Samples prepared by students are typically prepared at different times during the day and current systems can lead to wasted time as student wait to queue their samples. Solutions that implement simple queuing of samples so that additional samples can be queued while the system is acquiring other data are desirable as are smart data distribution options.
