description
The project will be delivered in two lots, undertaken in parallel.
The aim of Lot 1 (WP T1100-01) is to investigate how the GB rail industry could benefit from the use of in-cab CCTV and provide a sound understanding of how best to use in-cab CCTV. This intends to enable informed decision on the fitment of in-cab CCTV on new train and enable operators to make informed decision on existing rolling stock.
The specific objectives of Lot 1 (WP T1100-01) are to:
| • | Explore in detail the range of uses that in-cab CCTV could have for the GB rail industry. |
| • | Identify the operational and technical requirements needed for each type of usage (including sound and storage options). |
| • | Identify, and where possible quantify, the benefits that can be generated. |
The aim of Lot 2 (WP T1100-02) is to investigate the human factors considerations in the use of in-cab CCTV.
The specific objectives of Lot 2 (WP T1100-02) are to:
| • | Identify what is the likely impact of the use of in-cab CCTV on driver attitudes and behaviour. |
| • | Identify under what conditions in-cab CCTV can improve drivers' performance. |
| • | Assess the impact of CCTV in cab in reducing drivers' violation |
| • | Identify the conditions which could contribute to the acceptance of in-cab CCTV by train drivers. |
