Brief Description of Requirement
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), wishes to establish a contract for the Roof replacement and Solar Photovoltaic Installation Project at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge.
The project scope comprises the replacement of an existing roof, the removal of asbestos, supporting infrastructure and modifications and the installation of solar panels on 1) the newly replaced roof of the BAS Supply Chain Logistics building and 2) the existing roof of the BAS Science Building 2 as well as the supply and fit of new doors and windows, and re-rendering to the BAS supply chain Logistics building.
The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) has recently committed to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2040 from its directly managed operations. As part of this commitment, this project will facilitate the low carbon transition of BAS offices in Cambridge by increasing the solar capacity of the site and reducing our environmental impact.
This project aims to provide a minimum additional 450kW of solar photovoltaic power generation installed in both roofs which will meet 17% of the site's electricity demands and will contribute to a reduction of 90 tonnes of CO2e.
It is intended that the services will be managed using the NEC Engineering and Construction Contract (NEC4) Option A - Fixed Price with Activity Schedule.
