description

Preparation for Work and Information and Guidance Services

IAG Staff should be trained to at least a Level 4 in Information, Advice and Guidance and will be expected to draw keys and work independently.

Personal Learning Plans:

The Personal Learning Plan should identify short, medium and long-term skills and targets in the context of what is available in the establishment, and be linked to local Labour Market Information and individual career aspirations. It should also consider levels of attainment in English and maths, as well as taking into account any additional learning needs, and this information can be sourced via the Education provider induction process. It is the expectation that a PLP will be completed upon transfer into the prison, and should be reviewed regularly including on transfer out and/or release. The Supplier will be required to review and update each PLP, as well as sharing information between transferring prisons to avoid duplication. The Supplier's performance will be measured against the completion and review of PLPs as compared against the number of transfers (in and out) and releases from the establishment.

Although initially a paper copy, it is expected that each PLP will be scanned by the Supplier onto the prison PNOMIS system/Virtual Campus, as appropriate, in order to effectively share information and allow access to all relevant parties including prison Key Workers. The PLP should also be linked to any sentence plan for each individual.

The Supplier will be required to deploy qualified specialist staff who are able to deliver tailored IAG and career advice across the prison (it is accepted that some qualifications may need to be post-compulsory) and utilise a delivery model that is bespoke to HMP Whatton.

Delivery Model & Quality Assurance:

The Supplier will be required to provide one full time member of staff.
