Gaunless Bridge: Object Move and Conservation

This work package requires a Conservation contractor to undertake:

• Site Prep/Removal of Obstructions at National Railway Museum (NRM)
• Dismantling of the Gaunless Bridge (the object) at NRM
• Packing of object for transport at NRM
• Transport from NRM to an external workshop
• Making safe site at NRM
• Conservation of the object at an external workshop, to a Science Museum Group (SMG) Curatorial and SMG Conservation agreed standard
• Secure storage of object off-site at an external workshop
• Production of an ongoing conservation maintenance schedule to handover to SMG Conservation
• Packing of object for transport at an external workshop
• Transport of object from an external workshop to Locomotion (LCM)
• Unpacking, assembly and installation of bridge into a plinth at LCM (the plinth build being undertaken by a separate party)

Plus:

• Inputs into the production and planning of plinth design and drawings, considering object conservation requirements and object installation method and recommending appropriate approaches and inclusions (the plinth design and drawings being undertaken by a separate party)
