description
Provide horizontal and vertical fire stopping to the external curtain walling to seal all the gaps between the external rainwater screen and existing structure to eliminate the fire risk between floors and walls, to ensure the buildings are safe to use.
Due to various technical employees, both at SCC and Macro with the relevant expertise moving on, together with trying to engage with a Fire Engineer, the project has not developed as quickly as would have been liked.
Any chosen material/system will have to satisfy both the Fire Officer and the Insurance Company, with their full agreement before sign off to proceed.
The proposed works will involve (but not limited to): replacement of the existing spandrel panels, installation of a fire stopping material both horizontally and vertically between the existing structure and the external curtain walling system, and associated internal reinstatement works.
The school will be closely involved with any programme of works to ensure that they are caused the minimum of disruption during the works, with full utilisation of any holiday periods as these arise during the proposed construction phase. Although the school have confirmed that they only have the capacity to make 2 classrooms available at any one time, which will extend the period for delivery of the works.
