description

HeadStart is a project aimed at improving the mental health of young people in Wolverhampton, primarily targeting four areas of the city. People outside the specifically targeted areas will have the website as their primary method of accessing HeadStart's support and resources.

This project is one of six similar projects across the country, all funded by the Big Lottery. HeadStart collaborates with other organisations in the education, voluntary and health sectors to work with the young people on the HeadStart programme.

HeadStart's USP is that they are local, with a core team being built that will be working directly with young people. HeadStart coordinates with local and national support organisations to provide tailored support for young people in Wolverhampton.

The aim of the website is to build trust and engagement with the target audiences and become the go-to resource.

Key messages are:

Information about the HeadStart programme
Resources and media which raise awareness of the key challenges faced by young people, both created by the HeadStart team and by external organisations
Directing visitors to online sources of support produced by HeadStart and others, and to local or national organisations that can help

The programme's outcomes are detailed in Appendix A.

The current HeadStart website is at http://www.headstart.fm

Details of the Big Lottery bid can be found at http://headstartbid.com

The Long Term Objective is to become the 'go to' place for young people, parents and families, and professionals locally for information and support on issues of mental health, mental well-being and developing resilience.
