description
The London Borough of Sutton (LBS), together with the South East Rivers Trust, is undertaking a 'Sutton's SuDS in Schools' project. The project aims to reduce flood risk to 46 properties in the downstream catchment, attenuate 4.2 hectares, and reduce or remove playground flooding in the schools.
This project is broken down into four phases:
Phase 1 - initial scoping
Phase 2 - design
Phase 3 - school-specific fine tuning of the designs and construction of SuDS in three schools during the schools summer holidays 2019
Phase 4 - school-specific fine tuning of the designs and construction of SuDS in four educational establishments during the school summer holidays 2020
London Borough of Sutton is seeking a provider for Phase 3 of this project. LBS want to work with a specialist SuDS construction partner who will 'fine tune' the existing designs for each school and construct SuDS in three schools in the school summer holidays in 2019. The type of SuDS features, the storage capacity and suitable locations have already been identified by consultancy Metis and agreed by the schools. The successful provider is required to develop the designs further with school-specific features, construct them, and plant them.
LBS require the installation of SuDS features in three schools in accordance with the detailed designs, each school's brief and children's input.
The three schools are:
Harris Junior Academy Carshalton, Camden Rd, Carshalton SM5 2NS Muschamp Primary School, 36 Muschamp Rd, Carshalton SM5 2SE Victor Seymour Primary School, Denmark Road, Carshalton SM5 2JE
LBS is seeking a provider who has:
Has recent experience of delivering SuDS projects;
Can deliver the work during the summer holidays when the schools are closed to pupils (see timetable below);
Recognises the value of the SuDS features to the schools for recreational and educational purposes and will make this a priority in their design and construction.
