description

In securing services from AQP Providers, NHS Wakefield CCG requires assurance of competence, quality and safety standards, just as it would for services secured under a formal tender process.

Any provider will be eligible to apply for this AQP subject to demonstrating compliance and competency against the specified criteria outlined in the specification.

The successful provider(s) will deliver a cataract care service to patients registered with a NHS Wakefield CCG GP Practice.

The Provider (s) must also ensure the services delivered are located within the boundaries of Wakefield District and accessible to patients registered with Wakefield GPs.

If more than one provider is successful it will be a contract obligation as service providers to meet quarterly as part of a clinical network to discuss operational issues and work towards continuous improvements to patient pathways and patient experience.

The successful provider(s) will be expected to sign the standard NHS contract, accepting all terms and conditions.

It should be noted that under the Any Qualified Provider model, there will be no guarantees of volume or payment in the contracts awarded.

Organisations will be asked to complete an on line qualification questionnaire.

NHS Wakefield CCG is seeking providers who can provide a cataract care delivered in community settings within the boundaries of Wakefield District for access to Wakefield patients.

The overarching aims/objectives of the service are:

  • To provide equitable, timely and appropriate access to cataract care;
  • To Provide cataract care in accordance with the commissioning policy of NHS Wakefield CCG;

The overarching outcomes of the service are for the successful provider(s) to evidence:

  • Improved visual outcomes for patients, post-surgery;
  • The incidence of post-operative complications being in accordance with preoperative risk factors
  • Patients’ satisfaction with the outcome of surgery.

As the service will be commissioned under AQP arrangements, payment will be made at national tariff for consultant-led care; there is no guarantee of income.

The provider has full responsibility for the costs of any drugs used/prescribed within the service.

No Market Forces Factor (MFF) will be paid for this service.

A CQUIN scheme to the value of 2.5% of the provider’s actual annual activity will be made available
