description
Cefas require the successful Tenderer to deliver all requirements, i.e. the provision to supply all services required including vessel, Staff/technicians, equipment with suitable insurance, data processing, reports and supply.
Please note that the survey area may be amended, but will be agreed with the successful Tenderer.
A vessel, crew, survey team, and suitable equipment are required to undertake a side-scan sonar survey and an Aris camera survey within the area shown above in pink. The total area is approximately 5.3km2 and is in the vicinity of Hinkley Point nuclear power station, Bridgwater Bay, Severn Estuary.
The side-scan sonar survey should be run to obtain full coverage of the area with 200% overlap along lines. The side-scan sonar will be capable of operating at a frequency which gives the amount of detail needed to identify Sabellaria formations in the processed side-scan data. A frequency of around 600 kHz has given good results in previous surveys. Preferably, the side-scan sonar data should be processed on the vessel, or alternatively processed ashore at the end of each day so that the Aris camera survey can be planned during the geophysical acquisition. A full report will be required along with processed and raw format data.
