description
HMRC is investigating the available options for introducing apprenticeships for tax professionals in the department. As the Level 4 apprenticeship standard for a Professional Accounting/Tax Technician (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apprenticeship-standard-professional-accounting-technician) has been approved for delivery, HMRC would like to gather more information about training providers’ plans for delivering this standard in general.
Any training delivery for HMRC would be likely to involve large annual cohorts of apprentices who would be based across the UK, potentially in the following locations – Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Stratford and Croydon. In terms of numbers we would be interested to hear what you could offer for 500-1000 and 1000+ apprentices per annum.
Aim / overall objective
HMRC is seeking information which will allow us to make an informed choice about whether, and how, to proceed with a requirement for training organisation support for level 4 apprenticeships for tax professionals.
In particular, we would like to establish:
| • | The number of providers in the market currently capable of offering the new level 4 standard |
| • | Which providers are planning to offer the new level 4 standard in the future and when |
| • | Which providers might be considering offering both the examination and the work experience route |
| • | If the work experience route is available from external providers, how they see this working in practice |
| • | Which providers could potentially meet our needs in terms of the likely numbers of apprentices |
| • | Which providers are planning to be end point assessors |
