description

Lancaster University would like to procure 11 Cold Magnetic Shielding for the Hi-Lumi DQW Crab Cavities in two separate phases. Phase one is the initial purchase of 2 of the shields with an expected phase two (subject to funding) set for later in the year for the remaining 9 Cold Magnetic Shields. Phase Two pricing shall be valid until at least April 2020.

This scientific equipment will be housed within CERN, Geneva, Switzerland.

In order to reduce the electromagnetic power losses in the bare cavities, the static magnetic field from any source and, in particular, from the Earth's magnetic field, on the superconducting surface of the cavity must be minimized. For this reason, each cavity is enclosed in an individual magnetic shield. The magnetic shield is made out of material with high permeability at cryogenic temperature.

Appendices B, C and D are drawings, Appendix E and F are the 3D models of the shield. You will find these appendices as attachments to this document.
