The National Physical Laboratory [NPL] requirement is for a device to facilitate the measurement of thermal expansion at low temperatures. The apparatus should be a vertical system for the use over a temperature range to less than -150 °C to greater than 200 °C. The purpose is to update the NPL measurement capability from its current legacy system to a new modern design and implementation.
