description

The UK Government has committed to the delivery of HS2 Phase One, a new high-speed rail link between London and the West Midlands. The scale and complexity of the programme means that construction and future operation of HS2 will intersect heavily with the Strategic Road Network (SRN), resulting in significant design, operational and construction-related interfaces.

The service will include providing technical advice on all HS2 interfaces with the Strategic Road Network that still have works outstanding.

The HS2 interfaces include -

·A43 Overbridge
·A46 Kenilworth Bypass Box Slide
·A45/Eastway Overbridge
·BIS Area Highways
·M6 J4 Improvements
·M6 North Viaduct
·M6 South Viaduct
·M42 Coleshill Triple Box
·M42/M6 Link Viaducts
·M42 Water Orton Viaducts
·M42 Marston Box
·A5 Overbridge
·A38 Streethay Overbridge

To maintain SRN performance, safety and operational continuity during HS2 Phase One, National Highways requires specialist Geotechnical and Drainage expertise effectively manage the technical complexity and volume of ground engineering considerations affecting Strategic Road Network assets.

The Consultant's services will provide the additional technical capability needed to coordinate geotechnical & drainage assessments, ensure compliance with design standards, mitigate ground-related risks, and manage interface dependencies that exceed the capacity of core NH resource alone.

Under the direction of the National Highways, this specialist support will ensure geotechnical and drainage risks are proactively identified and controlled, technical assurance requirements are met, and HS2 works progress efficiently without compromising the safe and reliable operation of the SRN.
