description
The primary purpose of Mid Essex CCG is improving the health and well-being of the population of Mid Essex by commissioning the appropriate healthcare for the people it serves. The CCG needs to ensure that these services meet the needs of the community and are sustainably provided in a clinically safe environment. These may be from a variety of providers in the community, as well as local acute and specialist trusts.
The delivery of direct access diagnostic ultrasound services in the community both overcomes any limitations in acute trusts capacity and improves access to ultrasound services for patients by moving to locations closer to home.
The need to develop community based diagnostic services is supported by the Royal College of Radiologists and Royal College of General Practitioners as part of a service strategy to improve access to tests and ensure that these tests are delivered in the right stage of the patient care pathway.
This agreement describes an Ultrasound scanning service provided on a cost per case basis for the registered population of Mid Essex.
