Alexander Stadium is the central location for the Commonwealth Games 2022 hosting the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the athletics events. The site is currently being re-developed with the construction on track to the completed by April 2022 and handed over to the Organising Committee at the end of April 2022. After the games in August 2022, the stadium will undergo further construction works to transform the venue back into its permanent legacy format and thereafter will revert back to the control of the Council for its business as usual operation.
To support the delivery of the Council's responsibilities, there is a requirement for an interim sales and marketing support function to promote and sell spaces within the redeveloped stadium site as a venue of choice in the city, to a wide audience from local people, organisations and companies from local SMEs to multi-national companies. This support is needed to allow the operational team to focus on the delivery of the Games and to ensure that bookings are secured in advance of the legacy operation launching.
The contract will be for a duration of 12 months commencing 1st April 2022 and will require the following services to be delivered.
- oTo support the establishment of a marketing strategy to sell the stadium facilities and implement after approval by the Council
- oTo establish and manage a dedicated stadium website to promote the conference, meeting and event spaces
- oTo design and produce marketing materials to promote the facilities for distribution to a range of networks and business associations including videos of the facilities, sales brochures, banners, promotional items, press releases and social media promotion in accordance with the Council's design standards and protocols
- oArrange and manage a launch event
- oAttend industry events, exhibitions and networking events, promoting and securing speculative and actual enquiries for sales
- oManage all sales enquiries via the website, email and telephone, upsell services and secure bookings for conference, meetings and events, as well as room bookings and corporate membership sales, as required
- oLiaise with the stadium operational team to ensure any bespoke event enquiries can be accommodated before securing booking
- oSecure bookings and set out a recommended payment profile based on credit worthiness
- oAdvise payments details to the Council to collect or invoice.
- oHand over event bookings to the operational team prior to arrival with a full events brief for delivery
- oMonitor progress of the support service and advise on continuous improvements
- oProvide monthly KPI reports based on performance
- oProduction of a range of sales procedures / guidance documents as needed
- oTo provide a dedicated team of sales support staff with an appropriate staffing level that focus on the sales for the stadium
