Award of a call off contract under the Prison Education Dynamic Purchasing System for a Mental Health in Construction course for Prisoners at HMP Highpoint.

The course shall include the following elements and be classroom based:

  1. Safety First - IOSH safety, Health and environmental for construction workers. (CSCS Card)
  2. Mental Health - Deliver a session to help develop an understanding of the effects on wellbeing and mental health working in the construction industry
  3. Understanding Organised crime in construction - Deliver an understanding of the effects that organised crime has within the construction industry. Discuss the risk this may cause. Educate the cohort with skills to employ should they have to deal with organised crime within the construction industry.
  4. Culture - Develop the learners understanding of the cultures within the construction industry that can cause risks and temptations. This shall include substance misuse.
  5. Stay Calm - Coping with the pressures of life in construction. This shall include the risks of confrontation in the construction industry when working on site this shall be interactive with learners
  6. Emotional Intelligence - Discuss with learners how their own behaviours affect those who work around them
  7. Interview skills - Deliver up to date market data about vacancies within the construction industry and prepare learners to interview using the skills developed within the course. Develop coping strategies for tests. Work collaboratively with onsite outreach employability services to produce CV's.
