Orchard Homes - Stockwood Almshouse Contractor Procurement

Orchard Homes Design & Build Ltd has engaged Sweett (UK) Limited to deliver a 60 bed Almshouse in Stockwood, Bristol. The Works comprise the redevelopment of the former Bowmead Elderly Persons Home site in Hollway Road, Stockwood, Bristol. The site is bounded on three sides by Hollway Road, Stockwood Road and Materman Road and the remaining boundary is shared with Bluebell Gardens, a sheltered housing development comprising 61 flats operated by Housing & Care 21. The former Bowmead Elderly Persons Home will be demolished as part of the Works and the site cleared to make way for the construction of a new 60 bed Almshouse which will be operated by Orchard Homes. The Stockwood Almshouse will provide a 'home for life' for older people and people with a physical or mental impairment who need personal care and/or housing support to live independently in their own homes. The accommodation will comprise of 41 one bed apartments, 12 two bed apartments, 7 two bed accessible apartments, communal facilities, external works and drainage. The procurement process is for the selection of a single Contractor to undertake the design and build.
