description

The Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are recommissioning an existing service to provide medical support and input to the Intermediate Care (IC) service across Torbay and South Devon. The current contract is due to lapse on 31st March 2022 and this contract will start on 1st April 2022. The contract will be for a term of 2 (two) years with an option of an additional 1 (one) year plus 1 (one) year (2+1+1). The Contract will be an availability agreement between the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and Medical Professionals to provide medical support to IC patients where it is required by the Trust IC teams or where they are referred into the Medical Professional. Working collaboratively, the Trust and Medical professionals will provide an enhanced medical care service to patients in Torbay and South Devon during weekdays between 08.00-18.00, with the Trust providing clinical cover over the weekend and out of hours. The Medical Professional will also be required to attend a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting to provide support to discussion about IC patients that day. There is an increasing need for medical care to be delivered in the community to reduce the need for hospital admission or visits to a GP surgery and to keep patients out of hospital after an admission. This service will provide a foundation for innovation and integration with other community-based medical provision and as such providers will be willing to learn and develop, establishing good working relationships that are open and adaptable to change. The Services to which this Procurement relates will be commissioned under the Light Touch Regime (implemented through Regulations 74-77 of the Public Contract Regulations 2015. As such, the procurement of the Services is being run as a bespoke, single stage application process akin to the Open procedure, involving a number of steps which are outlined within the suite of procurement documents.
