description
Birmingham City Council (BCC) is seeking quotations from organisations for the provision of financial advisory services to support the development of the Full Business Case (FBC) for the establishment of a fully licensed Birmingham Energy Company. This follows the completion of an Outline Business Case (OBC) and options appraisal in 2016 that confirmed the most appropriate route for the Birmingham Energy Company to be a fully licensed supply. The FBC for the fully licensed Birmingham Energy Company is due to be presented to Cabinet in September 2017 to seek approval for the setup of the company by April 2018.
The main purpose of the energy company will be to supply energy, (retail gas and electricity), and associated services to the local economy - encompassing public estate, domestic, commercial and industrial markets. The company will be run on a commercial basis and ultimately will be expected to provide an ongoing financial return to BCC.
BCC will be using its e-tendering system (in-tend) for the administration of this market sounding process and interested parties must register with the system to be able to express an interest. The web address is: https://in-tendhost.co.uk/birminghamcc Registration and use of In-tend is free. All correspondence for this procurement process must be via the In-tend correspondence function.
