In order to monitor the spatial and temporal behaviour of diadromous fish, Cefas are proposing to develop a programme to tag and monitor the fish migration in the River Tyne. In order to develop a telemetry network in the River Tyne, Cefas have a requirement for the following:
- acoustic receivers operating at 69 kHz. The operating system should be compatible with MAP113 or previous map codes. The receivers will need to include batteries.
- acoustic transmitters to be detected by the above acoustic receivers. Tags should include the option of both a temperature and/or pressure sensor. The tags should have a power output of between 147-153 dB re 1 uPa @ 1m and a life of ~ 2 years. The tags should be no larger than 13mm in diameter. The depth sensor should have a resolution of ~0.15 metres and the temperature sensor ~0.15 °C.
