description

Introduction

Based on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), Greenwich is the 19th most deprived borough in England and the 10th most deprived in London. It is widely acknowledged that there is a strong link between social deprivation, STIs (including HIV) and teenage pregnancy. Improving the sexual health of the population of Royal Greenwich therefore continues to remain a vital public health priority.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich (‘RBG’) is tendering its community sexual health services in order to improve the sexual health and well-being of our residents. Through this programme of work we are aiming to increase the recognition, availability and accessibility of our sexual health services.

Sexual Health Office and Screening

The Sexual Health Office, Outreach and Screening Service will ultimately provide a non-judgemental up-to-date, comprehensive and relevant sexual health service with information provided by appropriately skilled staff. The service will provide opportunistic screening for Chlamydia in an outreach capacity. The outreach service will also aim to further educate young people under 24 about all the methods of contraception available to them highlighting the benefits of LARC whilst also providing support into local community sexual health services for further support. The service will also work in partnership with the contracted Laboratory services to manage the Greenwich Sexual Health Home STI Sampling service. In addition, the service will manage our borough wide Condom Distribution Scheme.

Applications

Applications are encouraged from voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, including Community Interest Companies and charities.

Applications will be evaluated on their ability to meet the objectives outlined in the specification documents, so applicants must clearly demonstrate how their proposals will deliver these targets.
