Defra and AHVLA requires a quantitative modelling standing capacity (QMSC) that maintains, develops and can make models available at short notice in the event of an outbreak or to meet ad hoc policy requests to cover epidemiological and economic modelling and analysis for FMD and other exotic diseases, to inform policy decisions, which may need to be made quickly and sometimes based on evidence that is not complete.
