description
NICE is the national organisation that sets the standard for high quality health and social care. We support health and social care professionals to ensure that the care they provide is of the highest quality and offers the best value for money. We produce authoritative, evidence-based guidance on the most effective ways to diagnose, treat and prevent disease and ill health, and we set Quality Standards which can be used to drive quality improvement in a particular area of care.
NICE performs additional roles in helping to improve quality in the NHS, including: providing NICE Evidence Services (www.evidence.nhs.uk); advising on indicators for the Quality and Outcomes Framework; providing medicines and prescribing advice; and running a fellows and scholars (https://www.nice.org.uk/Get-Involved/Fellows-and-Scholars) programme to reward contributions to quality care. Further details of our work can be found on the NICE website www.nice.org.uk.
The NICE Board Meetings
NICE Board meetings are held around the country every other month and are approximately 2-3 hours in length.
The Board ensure they cover as many different areas of the country as they can, visiting a different location for each bi-monthly meeting, to maximise opportunities for engagement with local stakeholders in NICE’s work.
The Board meetings and NICE Question Time sessions that precede them are generally held at either local NHS Hospital Trust or public health, social care or local government venue in the chosen region.
The meetings are open to all NHS, local authority and social care staff, as well as members of the public. Questions are taken from the floor after each item and attendees have the opportunity to meet the Board of NICE prior to, and following, the meeting.
The Board meetings are seen as an extremely important opportunity for NICE to engage with key stakeholders at a local level.
NICE requires a conference organiser/agency to plan manage, organise and deliver 12 board meetings, NICE Question Time sessions and dinners across the country. The marketing and communication of the event will be managed by NICE. The contract will run for 2 financial years – 1 August 2015 to 31 July 2017, with the option to extend for two twelve month periods.
