description

The Dungeness A reactors shut down in December 2006. Since that time desiccant and catalyst have remained within 14 vessels but have not been in operation. The function of the desiccant material was to absorb moisture from the primary carbon dioxide cooling gas. As a result, the desiccant is likely to be heavily contaminated with tritium in the form of adsorbed tritiated water. The catalyst material will be similarly contaminated. The Phase 1 analysis will determine if there are significant quantities of active contaminants other than tritium. If such contaminants are present, it is expected that the Phase 2 analysis will quantify these. Provision of Transport packaging and courier services between DNA site and the ASP primary laboratory are required
