Overview
UK Sport's Strategic Plan outlines that we will "Power a diverse, inclusive team. We will ensure the only barrier to sporting success is potential. Together with partners, we will discover the nation's exceptional sporting talent of tomorrow, building a more inclusive and diverse community of sports, staff and athletes." We have set ourselves bold ambitions, both in our EDI Strategy for the high-performance sport system and in our TRARIIS (Tackling Racism and Racial Inequality in Sport) commitments to improve ethnic representation within the high-performance community. Available data show that people from ethnically diverse backgrounds are significantly under-represented in the high-performance system workforce at all levels, and particularly in leadership and management roles. In the 2020 Perrett Laver Board survey of 125 funded sports partners, only 7.9% of Board members identified as Black, Asian or from other ethnically diverse backgrounds, compared to 12% representation on the boards of the FTSE 100 companies. This situation has remained largely unchanged over several Olympic/Paralympic cycles and is unlikely to improve significantly in the coming years without disruptive positive action in support of this underrepresented community. We are committed to accelerating the pace of change to deliver measurable progress in this area.
Objectives
Our overarching objective is to significantly increase the number of ethnically diverse people in NGB (National Governing Body) and WCP (World Class Programme) workforces, particularly those in leadership positions, by attracting new talent as well as by retaining and developing existing talent. This Tender relates to the development of ethnically diverse talent within the system through the provision of a targeted leadership development experience.
Timeframe
Initial 10/12 days scoping phase to take place over 2 months. 30/35 days of delivery to be initiated by 1 January 2024.
