NHS England – Cumbria & North East wishes to engage with potential providers through a Request for Information (RFI) process in relation of a proposed procurement of Unscheduled, Urgent & Emergency ‘In Hours’ Dental Services within Durham, Darlington & Tees.

The clinical objective of NHS England - Cumbria & North East is to deliver high quality clinical services.

There are three key principles that underpin this clinical objective. These principles form the basis of the clinical quality requirements.

The principles are:

-Services should be patient-centered;
-Services must be delivered safely; and
-Services must be effective

This highlights three key areas that the provider(s) must focus on to ensure the delivery of a patient-centered service.

The areas are:

-Accessible and convenient services;
-Appropriate and responsive care; and
-Clean and pleasant environment

The service specification sets out a proposed model for Unscheduled, Urgent & Emergency ‘In Hours’ Dental Services.

The purpose of this market engagement exercise is to:

  • Investigate and better understand the capability and capacity of potential providers to deliver the proposed service;
  • Understand if potential providers can react to ‘demographic’ needs;
  • Understand the interest of potential providers across Durham, Darlington and Tees; and
  • Aid benchmarking activities which assist in financial modelling

Potential Providers are requested to complete the RFI documentation by 12 noon 18th February 2016.

Following receipt of the RFI responses, if required providers may be invited to 1:1 sessions with NHS England Cumbria & North East to be held the week commencing of 29th February 2016.

The North of England Commissioning Support Unit (NECS) is managing the RFI process for and on behalf of NHS England – Cumbria & North East. NECS is utilising an electronic tendering tool to manage this procurement and communicate with potential providers. Accordingly, all communications and submissions will be conducted via the In-Tend Portal, https://in-tendhost.co.uk/necs. It is free to register on the portal, which can be accessed at any time of day.
