description
There are 5 broad objectives comprising 16 projects and covering 30 priority vascular plant species:
- To improve the conservation management of rare and threatened Fenland vascular plant species including underpinning research, survey, experimental management and trials - this work will focus on three s.41 species: Fen Orchid, Yellow Early Marsh-orchid & Fen Violet.
- To improve the conservation management of rare and threatened Breckland vascular plant species including underpinning research, survey, experimental management and trials - this work will focus on thirteen s.41 species.
- To create the conditions favoured by the s.41 species; Dune Gentian, together with a programme of monitoring both in advance of, and following management works at its only English locality; Braunton Burrows.
- To enhance the effectiveness of AE management options (both targeting and delivery) for threatened arable plants: targeting eleven s.41 species within a further four NCAs identified through the Important Arable Plant Area project (East Anglian Chalk, Chilterns, Wealden Greensands & South Downs) - additional to the two pilots undertaken in 2015 and looking in detail at delivery effectiveness for three s.41 species on at least eight land holdings.
- To revise the "Juniper dossier" which forms the basis of collated action across southern England for this s.41 shrub, drawing together information from the old dossier and new research and observations.
