description

Overview

  1. The joint NHS England and Health Education England NHS 111 Integrated Urgent Care Workforce Development Programme has been established to deliver quality, safety and operational improvements within the NHS 111 function and to deliver decreased ambulance and emergency department dispositions as well as increased numbers of Hear & Treat dispositions. This will be achieved through ensuring a well engaged, educated and developed workforce, with appropriate career progression opportunities to improve retention and decrease attrition.

Background

  1. As part of the Programme, £1million has been allocated to allow piloting, testing and evaluation in areas of workforce and associated activities within NHS 111 providers and within Urgent & Emergency Care more widely. This funding themes, detailed at Appendix 2, will be distributed to provider organisations via Clinical Commissioning Groups through a competitive bid process, where these organisations will work with other stakeholders and partners to undertake the pilot and testing activities.
  1. Evaluation of the pilot, testing and evaluation activities will be undertaken by the providers and their partners, the specification of which will form part of the providers' application for funds; NHS England and Health Education England, however, will quality assure the evaluation processes through the bidding, mobilisation and individual project closures and then bring together the findings of all the activities to develop an overarching report.
