Catering Services for Portsmouth Area Schools

Portsmouth City Council 'the Council' is inviting expressions of interest from suitably experienced suppliers to provide a fully managed solution for catering services for schools. The Council is targeting to award the contract on 16th April 2019 to a single provider.

The scope of which will comprise of but may not be limited to providing a fully managed catering service for schools and academies in the Portsmouth area for both primary and secondary schools. The service will be delivered via a mixture of standalone kitchens, production kitchens and serveries.

The service will deliver the following:

Accommodation of diverse cultural needs Partnership working

Sustainability of service

Cashless payment system

Split lunch provision (secondary schools only)

Provision of packed lunches Staff Meals

Locally based management

38. schools in Portsmouth have indicated that they would like to join a new city-wide contract for school meals with effect from 1 August 2019, including primary, secondary, infant, junior, special schools and an all-through school.

The known estimated value based on current number of schools and take-up is in the region of £2.8M per year.

The initial contract period will be for 5 years, extendable in increments to be agreed at the option of the Council to a maximum of 10 years.
