description
There is a proposed development that includes the Wakefield Eastern Relief Road (WERR) between Doncaster Road and Aberford Road that will reduce major congestion on one of the City's main arterial roads and through the City Centre. This will also open up development land. Construction will be across land held by several parties, who have formed a consortium to manage opening up the development land, although construction of the majority of the road is being led by Wakefield Council on behalf of the consortium. The proposed road will be approximately 5.5km of single carriageway along with a major river crossing and a road under rail railway bridge. The employer requires a Supervisor (as defined by NEC3) who will also have the majority of the powers of the Project Manager delegated to them. This Supervisor will be employed as a contractor to the council During the term of this contract, the successful applicant may also be required to assist in the development of other schemes, including management of the design process, and assisting with the planning permission processes. The successful applicant shall therefore have substantial experience of the delivery of NEC3 construction contracts, especially option C, and the operation of pain / gain and bonus systems, whilst working as Supervisor and the majority of the powers of the project manager. As this scheme is delivered by Wakefield Council, and funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the successful applicant shall have substantial experience of working for a local authority client, along with delivering the audit information required. Due to the nature of the scheme, the successful applicant shall have experience of successfully delivering a new rail over road railway bridge and have experience of managing all the relevant processes required by Network Rail. As amendments may be necessary to the design of the road, the successful applicant shall have substantial experience of managing highway design processes and working with external design consultants (the authority has minimal internal design capability.) Due to the compressed timescales, (the construction contract funding was confirmed, and the contract awarded, on 24th March 2015, with works commencing 6th April 2015) the successful applicant must be available for immediate start.
