PROVISION OF A GROUNDS MAINTENANCE MACHINERY REPAIR SERVICE CONTRACT

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Parks Operations Service is seeking a service to cover the repair and servicing of grounds maintenance machinery based at several sites within the borough of Southend. The main sections within the Council to be covered are parks and cemeteries within the borough of Southend. The length of the contract is 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years.

It is envisaged that the Council will set up a Framework Agreement, with up to five Contractors. The indicative spend by the Council is approximately £20k per year, but it is incumbent on the Council to take advantage of any opportunities to make savings where possible. The service will be expected to be available for 364 days per year.

The successful Tenderer will have the capacity and expertise to offer a quality customer service with sufficient tools, equipment and resource. Experience in the field of grounds maintenance machinery repair and servicing is paramount and it is essential that the service is mobile to be able to attend sites where the machinery is based and to attend breakdowns within the Southend or the immediate surrounding area. The successful Tenderer will have a proven track record in the industry.

The Council operates a grounds maintenance machinery repair workshop which covers the majority of the repairs and servicing of the existing machinery assets. (A full list of the Council’s current list of machinery is outlined in Appendix 1). The successful Tenderer will mainly carry out repairs and servicing to larger plant and tractors but will also cover all other machinery including pedestrian and hand held machinery. A service may also be required to act as cover for the existing Workshop Fitter in times of absence due to sickness or annual leave.
