description

The Bexhill to Hastings Link Road links the outskirts of Hastings and Bexhill and was completed and opened to the public in 2015. As the road was built through an area previously undeveloped, to meet planning regulations for the construction of the road, certain maintenance commitments were made. These commitments span from starting work on the road through to completion of the road and then afterwards for a period of 7 years.

The principal contractor for the construction tendered for the maintenance commitments for the first five years post the road opening, to then handover to East Sussex County Council (ESCC) for the remaining two. Due to unforeseen circumstances this contractors is no longer going to be fulfilling the aftercare requirement and therefore ESCC must procure a contractor to meet these obligations for the remaining five years. It is envisaged that some of the scope of this contract will be reduced by year 3 due to some of the land being sold to third parties.

The Required obligations have been publicly expressed through ESCC's website here:

https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/bexhillhastingslinkroad/about/

The Primary scope of this contract is; to undertake the agreed grounds maintenance obligations of ESCC for the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road Project. This is primarily made up of grass cutting, weed control, litter picking and tree/bush management.
