North Staffordshire CCG and Stoke on Trent CCG – Anticoagulation One Stop Shop Notice

North Staffordshire CCG and Stoke on Trent CCG who commission health services for around 496,000 residents are publishing this Pipeline Notice to inform interested providers of the intention to tender an anticoagulation One Stop Shop service in partnership with General Practice delivering a Level 1 enhanced service.

It is expected that interested providers will have the capacity and capability to deliver an integrated and seamless anticoagulation service. This will provide on an equitable basis a safe and effective diagnosis (DVT), initiation, stabilisation, monitoring, dosing and prescribing anticoagulation service in line with best practice timescales. It is expected that the provider will deliver a service for complex, non-complex and stable complex patients whilst maintaining care closer to home. There is an expectation that the service is delivered by a prime provider who will sub-contract to existing general practices currently delivering an enhanced (Level 4) anticoagulation service to patients.

The CCG’s will be holding a bidder event on Thursday 14th May 2014 from 9.00 - 16.00pm in Newcastle Under Lyme where we would like to invite interested parties to come along to discuss potential service models within North Staffordshire. The purpose is to gather views and comments from a range of providers and interested parties to jointly develop a model to empower a prime provider to drive innovative and transformative change in the care pathway for users of the service.

Prior to this event, could you respond to the following questions:

1. We are looking for a Prime Provider that will be able to sub-contract to existing and potentially new local general practices to deliver a Level 4 enhanced anticoagulation service. Do you foresee any issues / problems in delivering this model?

2. Are there any elements of the service that you are not able to provide?

It must be stressed that this is purely a fact finding exercise and no tenders will be invited as part of this process. The responses received will help North Staffordshire CCG and Stoke on Trent CCG develop a service delivery model for the anticoagulation service. It will also help to refine the scope and specification of such a process.

A formal tendering process may or may not commence at a later date. Your responses will not form part of any future evaluation process should a formal tender be asked for. Please be assured that all responses received will be treated in strictest confidence.
