MMO Seafood Crisis Intervention Scheme (SCIS)

The Defra policy team (EU Exit FI007) for Marine and Fisheries has requested capability to disburse hardship funding through the Marine Management Organisation to compensate marine fisheries, fishing industry in the event of disruption caused by exit from the EU without a deal.

A new business process and team is being put in place by the MMO to enable smooth delivery of this policy steer from government communicated to the MMO by Simon Brockington (Deputy Director, Marine and Fisheries). The new scheme requires ICT enablement, with the view that the scheme will be open to public from 2019. It is envisaged that a ready to use cloud hosted and supported case management solution available on G-Cloud government digital marketplace.

As this is a new scheme to distribute hardship funds to the Fishing Industry, there are no existing contractual implications.
