description
The purpose of the project is to set out the requirements for a community based Tier
- Ophthalmology Service for the localities of Greater Preston and Chorley and South
Ribble CCG’s. The existing contract for the Tier 2 service is due for renewal and
the opportunity has been used to review what is currently delivered and extend the
service that is provided for patients. The key aim therefore, is to produce
community based eye services to deliver care at the heart of the community, which
means outside of the acute hospital setting for many patients. This service will
have Consultant Ophthalmologists at the core of the delivery, who will be responsible
for ensuring that continuity and consistent quality of care is delivered by all
members of the community Ophthalmology team. This is for a contract for 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2 years.
If and when this requirement is offered to tender, this will be done via electronic means using the internet, and may also be through the medium of an electronic reverse auction. Midlands and Lancashire CSU is conducting this procurement exercise as a central purchasing body for another NHS body (please refer to the PQQ and/or MOI for details) with whom the successful bidder(s) will enter into contracts for the supply of the services. Any other public sector body wishing to access the contract may do so only with permission from the contracting NHS body. The contract conditions will be set out in the Invitation to Tender. Further details will be made available via documentation and information released during the course of the tender process.
