description

The project will continue to build on recommendations from the foundational scoping report of marine monitoring produced by HMC and work developed during Marine & Fisheries Monitoring Evolution Phase 1.

Given our broad understanding of the system from Phase 1, there is now a need to explore the policy and operational delivery requirements for monitoring data and products at a finer scale of resolution. This will allow an assessment of monitoring that is primarily requirements driven (i.e. why it is needed by policy and delivery) rather than operationally driven (i.e. how existing monitoring is carried out). The project will then examine alignment of monitoring programmes to current and future policy and delivery requirements, and where alignment, gaps, duplication, synergies and opportunities exist. Moreover, the project will provide a value for money assessment to support the case for future monitoring transformation.
