description

The JET Decommissioning and Repurposing (JDR) Programme is seeking an organisation to develop a Characterisation Plan (CP) for the JET estate to underpin strategic planning of decommissioning activities. This document summarises the expected scope and boundaries of the CP activity, key deliverables, and relevant information.

The JET estate consists of a large number of buildings which are used to support the operation of the JET reactor. Many of the facilities in the JET estate are non-radiological and non-beryllium contaminated and simply provide services such as power, heat, and office space for the JET programme. There are known areas of beryllium contamination, heightened neutron activation, and airborne tritium concentration which are key areas of interest in terms of decommissioning.
